General Info for Douglas Mehrens’ Workshops: All workshops listed below with Douglas Mehrens as instructor are held at the Museum of Encaustic Art’s workshop facility in Cerrillos, New Mexico. A percentage of the proceeds benefit the Encaustic Art Institute-Museum of Encaustic Art 501c3 non-profits. Each workshop class size is limited to six participants (unless otherwise noted) to facilitate individual attention.
Cancellation/Refund Policy: If a person wishes to cancel their workshop up to ten (10) days prior to their paid workshop, a $50 fee will be retained with the remaining funds returned. If a person cancels for any reason nine (9) days or before the workshop date, payments can be applied to other workshops scheduled within eight (8) months. No discounts or refunds will be given for participant’s late arrival or early departure during a workshop. If the instructor needs to cancel the workshop, all funds will be returned.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Douglas Mehrens, founder of the Encaustic Art Institute, Museum of Encaustic Art, the online Encaustic Arts Magazine – has been working with encaustic/wax going on 40 years. This knowledge and experience give Douglas excellent insight and sensitivity to work with artists of all experience levels. Douglas is encouraging and supportive of those who are brand new to using encaustic/wax, as well as collaborating with and providing new insights to artists with more extensive experience and skills working with encaustic/wax media.
In the last 10 years of his art career, he has also been working with resin, inventing ways of combining it with 2-D and 3-D encaustic/wax. Loving the sturdy, and unique quality of resin with wax – Douglas has been teaching resin techniques for over 8 years, sharing his vast knowledge and playfulness with this unique combination of materials.
Jorge Luis Bernal‘s workshops are held at his studio in Santa Fe.
