Artist Statement:

My piece, Beneath the Glacier, is about how with ice melting at a rapid rate, things are begin revealed that have long laid buried and this may not be a good thing for the planet, nature, humanity. The medium of encaustic is perfect for what I want to achieve in terms of looking at what lies beneath the surface. The act of applying paint and medium and scraping reveals some curious detritus and imagery that could not be achieved otherwise. Each application of paint and scraping peaks my curiousity to find out more.
