GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL EXHIBITION
MERSHONA PARSHALL
MERSHONA PARSHALL
(Cedar Crest, New Mexico)
Powateoni
encaustic on cradle board, 11.75 x 15-5/8 x 5/8 inches
Artist Statement:
This piece depicts our present time of climate chaos as humanity experiences more extreme weather events such as greater flooding, fires and drought. It is respectfully dedicated to the Hopi elders who call this period of time, Powateoni, a time of purification and upheaval. Other indigenous cultures have also identified this time of upheaval as a crossroads. We can choose to respect and reconnect with the natural world, and with each other, to bring about transformation and positive change.
