Artist Statement:

I think of the surface of the earth as a skin. This skin has been abused and scarred by excessive consumption and practices.

Everyday the cries of Mother Earth are seen and heard from around the planet. Our Earth is heating up due to our burning fossil fuels, deforestation, along with some agricultural and industrial practices. Extreme weather events are becoming the new normal. Blistering heat waves, raging wildfires, drought, severe storms all cause flooding and erosion. They are also threatening our food and water supply.

Mother Earth is becoming scorched and barren. She is growing unable to support life. My thoughts center around the pain and destruction we have inflicted on this skin, that has in the past, blanketed us in beauty and harmony.

My piece is a visual expression of what will come if we ignore her cries.
