Artist Statement:

This encaustic painting reflects my conviction that despite the warming, melting environment we now inhabit, nature draws energy and vitality from deeper sources than we can know. These sources could be called divine, spiritual, or simply biological, but I believe nature tends toward regeneration and restoration. Our planet has undergone near-total destruction many times over, and yet we live in beauty and abundance.

From a human perspective, there is much to worry about, and our own actions lead us toward destruction, maybe even extinction, but nature itself will regenerate. We don’t know the forms that will emerge or the time required for a new, full ecosystem, but I believe that life itself cannot be extinguished.
