Artist Statement:

When the New River violently spilled its banks during Hurricane Helene, I watched helplessly as entire buildings and neighboring homes were lifted from their foundations. Amidst that terrifying reality, our old farmhouse—perched steadfastly on higher ground—was spared, standing as a quiet holdout against the rushing water. This painting captures that stubborn resilience. It stands as a reminder of our shared power to survive, adapt, and rebuild, even in total uncertainty.
