Artist Statement:

My work explores the intersection of geological permanence and modern ecological collapse by documenting iconic glaciers across the globe. I view these frozen monoliths not merely as passive features of the landscape, but as living witnesses to Earth’s history, their icy layers holding the ancient memories and atmospheric secrets of deep time.

I aim to translate the abstract statistics of climate change into a visceral visual experience. While these pieces serve as a portrait of a fading giant, they are not merely a record of loss; they are a catalyst for hope. By capturing a last look at a landscape in transition, this work functions as a meditation on survival and resilience, contrasting the enduring monumental memory of the glaciers with the dynamic, shifting reality they face today.

Rendered in the luminous, tactile layers of encaustic wax and substrate compound—a medium that itself preserves and encapsulates—this series ultimately serves as an urgent call to preserve the remnants of our frozen history. It is an invitation to listen to the stories of these ancient witnesses, inspiring a collective resolve to protect, restore, and honor what remains of our shared home.
