Artist Statement:

This painting depicts the overwhelming spectacle of Global Warming. Yet even with the immensity of heat, there is still a degree of strength in the underdog. The Earth is not quitting.  The people and environment are pushing back. It looks like the pushback cannot be enough, but there is still persistence in the fight to survive. In our state, we have become accustomed to the drought, the heat, and the fire danger. We have watched the ducks walking along the bank of a dry irrigation ditch. We know what global warming is. There is incredible determination in the farmers growing green chili, a primary crop in our state.  The survival instinct is strong in their means of irrigating the crops.  It is almost to the point that each plant has its own source. It sets an amazing example. Global warming will not win here.
