Artist Statement:

In my encaustic monotypes, long scrolls of heavy printing paper are pulled through molten wax, pushing and pulling painterly elements in ways that evoke earthly forces shaped by erosion, heat, movement, and time. Working with hot encaustic wax and then cold wax and oil, I explore a layered visual language of texture, atmosphere, and transformation. The layers of hot wax are both translucent and glass-like, and richly textured. The areas of oil and cold wax extend the harmony. The piece is then mounted on a cradled panel.

The surfaces suggest landscapes in flux and the immense dance of planetary change, yet they also express something enduring: the sustaining aura of the Earth itself. Despite upheaval and environmental uncertainty, I experience the planet as continuing to radiate resilience, beauty, mystery, and profound interconnectedness.
