Inspiration: “A powerful mental or emotional stimulation that ‘breathes life’ into ideas, or creativity, making you feel excited, motivated, and compelled to do or create something new, better, or more positive, often from an internal spark or external influence like nature, art, or people. It’s about feeling energized and connected, prompting you to act, improve, or express yourself authentically. “
Every artist feels inspired and learns to use it as a powerful source of motivation. In a world full of distractions, we hope each of you discovers a creative expression that inspires you to create new artwork for this exhibition.
JUROR BIO
Teena Robinson is a mixed media artist living in Colorado, surrounded by mountains and the beauty of Nature.
After attending Parsons School of Design in New York, her artistic and graphic design skills flourished while owning a graphic design business for over twenty-five years. Her constant interest in art led her to attend watercolor workshops and painting classes in 1999, reawakening her artistic drive to create unique interpretations of people, places, and things.
Teena strives to interpret the world around her and create a feeling, rather than a realistic representation of her subject matter. Her connection to Nature is the inspiration for her work.
At present, she works in mixed-media and encaustics. She enjoys the textures she can create and the play of light and luminosity that she gets working with hot wax. She also brings the inspiration of Nature to her mixed-media and watercolor paintings.
Each new work has a voice of its own. She is the tool that expresses that voice.
Teena is a founding member of the Encaustic Art Institute and has shown at the Santa Fe Community College Group Show, The Esperanza Shelter Auction, Cornerstone Community Partnership, Back Street Bistro, NM Wax Show at the Community Gallery, The Beestro, Cupids Arrow at the Wheelhouse Gallery, Pagosa Springs Medical Center, and Two Old Crows, Pagosa Springs.

Top: Juror, Teena Robinson, holding Snow Storm Coming, encaustic on panel, 14 x 30 inches. Center and Bottom: Once a Waterfall, 40 x 16 inches, is a diptych inspired by a visit to Zion National Park. It seemed Nature used the rock faces as a palette for painting her memory of past waterfalls.
ELIGIBILITY
This exhibition is open to all artists working in wax media (encaustic & cold wax), whether or not they are members of EAI.
All 2-D or 3-D artwork created using wax-based media is acceptable for submission and consideration by the juror. Wax-based media includes all forms of encaustic, hot or cold wax, and encaustic mixed media (with any combination of media). There are no limitations to your expression, but the artwork must meet the entry requirements, relate to the theme of Inspiration, and be made from wax-based media.
All work must be for sale and will be exhibited online & in the Museum of Encaustic Art, New Mexico, USA. Artists juried in to the exhibition may participate in the in-person exhibition and the online exhibition, or may elect to show their work online only.

Entries open on Saturday, February 7, and close at midnight on Tuesday, March 31.
WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE DEADLINE TO BEGIN YOUR APPLICATION. Assistance is available only until 5 pm on March 31. Please allow at least 1 day before the deadline in case you have problems completing your entry or have any questions about it.

All entrants: Please carefully read and follow all the entry requirements and instructions below before beginning your entry. Also, read through the important dates and deadlines to ensure you understand and accept all conditions/deadlines.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS & DETAILS
This exhibition is open to all artists working in wax media (encaustic & cold wax), whether or not they are members of EAI. All forms of encaustic/wax are acceptable media to submit for consideration by the juror, including hot (encaustic) or cold wax, and encaustic mixed media, as long as wax is a key component.
All artwork must be for sale – and remain eligible for sale – from the time the entry is submitted (Feb 7 through Mar 31) and if an artwork is selected by the juror – until the close of the exhibition (August 9).
Size restrictions on the original artwork submitted to the juror:
2-D artwork must be 24 x 24 inches equivalent (or under)
3-D artwork must be 20 x 20 inches equivalent (or under)
Commission Fee for this juried exhibition: 50% to the artist/50% to Encaustic Art Institute.
Entry Fee: $30 for Encaustic Art Institute members/$35 for non-EAI members, payable within your EntryThingy entry, via PayPal or credit card, or you may send a check to EAI.
Entrants may opt to only participate in the online portion of the exhibition. In that case, you will not ship your work to us; your work and statement will be posted online, and a JPEG will be posted in place of your piece in the in-person exhibit. If sold, the artist will ship directly to the buyer.
Entrants who are shipping their work for the in-person portion of the exhibition must include a prepaid return shipping label with the accepted artwork for the return of the work, if not sold. No exceptions.
Details on shipping to us and the process for shipping work to the buyer will be posted on the website (via the dropdown menu under the Call for Art) after juror notification emails have been sent.

AN ARTIST STATEMENT describing how your entry addresses the theme (50 words minimum – 250 words maximum) is required as part of your entry. Please do take the time to write a statement that adequately expresses how your work relates to the theme. For the juror and for many viewers/buyers, this is an important element of the exhibition. The artwork should be visually compelling on its own. However, providing context for how the piece relates to the theme is essential for both juror and viewers, especially for non-representational work. Artist statements will accompany the artwork in both the online and in-person exhibits.
Note: The field to submit your statement in the EntryThingy system is called “description of entry” or “description of piece”; however, EntryThingy limits the number of characters to 260 (approx. 40- 50 words) – we will accept up to 250 words. If the length of your statement is longer than what EntryThingy allows, type in “statement sent separately” in the “description of entry” field in EntryThingy. You will email your separate statement(s) to eainm.info@gmail.com. Email your text as a Word doc or Pages document (do not send PDF files).
If you are submitting more than one artwork, you may send a separate statement for each piece. Be sure to note your entry number and the image ID (provided by EntryThingy) and/or the title of each piece. Each statement (if you’re sending for more than one piece) should be no less than 50 words or more than 250 words in length and should absolutely NOT include any identifying personal information, as all entries are to be submitted anonymously to the juror. Statements sent separately from the EntryThingy entry must be received no later than midnight on March 31, when entries close.
There will be an online component to the exhibit consisting of the JPEGs/PNGs submitted in the entries. Please be mindful when editing your JPEGs/PNGs to submit. Choose the best quality images possible to represent your work to the public (as well as to the juror).
Image specifications: Entrants may submit two (2) artworks (as high-resolution JPEG or PNG files) and, if desired, additional detail/close-up views of the artwork depicted in the 2 primary images for consideration by the juror. We suggest saving the images at 300 dpi. (Minimum acceptable dpi: 150). Image dimensions: 1600 px wide. File size up to 25 MB.
Note: When submitting your entry details, you must enter a price (as all artwork must be for sale). EntryThingy has an option to mark as “not for sale” – you must not choose this option.
Ensure that the email address you use in your entry is a current address you actively monitor. If you use a different name for any reason in any part of your entry (e.g. you use a legal name on your entry but you go by an “artist name”) or the address/name associated with a PayPal account or credit card you use for your entry fee is different from your own – be sure to let us know (Mehrens@eainm.com or eainm.info@gmail.com).
EDITING OR CHANGING YOUR ENTRY:
If at any point after you have submitted your entry through EntryThingy (but before the closing date for entries), you realize you need to edit or adjust anything in your entry, contact eainm.info@gmail.com with your request to change the status of your entry. We will set your entry to “unsubmitted” so you can return to EntryThingy and make your edits. No changes may be made after entries close. Be sure to complete the entry process with enough time to contact us to change the status so you can make any edits. Entries close at midnight on March 31, but support is only available until 5 pm (so you must contact us BEFORE 5 pm MDT March 31 for edits). When you’re finished, submit your entry to complete the process.
If you are editing an entry and have already paid your entry fee on the original submission, but the system will only allow you to submit your revised entry if you pay your fee again, contact us, and we will refund the second fee.

IMPORTANT DATES AND DEADLINES
Call For Art opens on SATURDAY, FEB 7, and closes for entries on TUESDAY. MAR 31:
Entries open on Feb 7 and are due no later than midnight on March 31; however, support/assistance will not be available after 5 pm MDT on March 31. This deadline is firm, and we will not accept entries after the entry period closes. All entries must be complete to be considered; no exceptions. All statements sent separately from the EntryThingy system must arrive (eainm.info@gmail.com) before midnight, March 31.
Please note, we strongly suggest that you do NOT wait until the last day to submit your entry. You should allow yourself enough time to familiarize yourself with the EntryThingy system before the deadline so you don’t run into problems close to it. Please give us (and yourself) at least a one-day cushion in case you need to correct something, or we need to contact you to clarify something in your entry.
Notification of Juror results: APRIL 22
We will notify artists of the juror results via email on April 22 through EntryThingy, and the names of accepted artists will be posted on the EAI website no later than April 24. The notification emails will be sent to the email address you’ve used in your EntryThingy profile and will come from an alerts@EntryThingy email address. Watch for the notification and ensure that your email address is one you actively monitor when submitting your entry. Remember to follow up and check your email for the notification, or visit the website to view the juror results. Once we have sent the notices, we will not contact you to verify you’ve seen the results – this is your responsibility. Accepted artists will be required to confirm all of their entry information. If you find that you have entered a detail incorrectly in your entry, we will give you an opportunity to correct it – see note below. (We will also ask you to verify whether you will be shipping your artwork for the in-person exhibition OR if you will be participating only in the online exhibition and not shipping your work to us).
Accepted artists – Confirmation of how you will participate, and opportunity to edit your accepted entry or statement due no later than APRIL 29:
Accepted artists are required to respond to eainm.info@gmail.com no later than APRIL 29 with any edits to their accepted entry (title, price, name, artist statement, etc.) that they wish to change. If, for any reason, you were unable to provide a high-resolution image during the entry process, you may email a higher-quality image of your accepted piece to us at this time. This will be the only window of opportunity to edit the details of your accepted piece, artist statement, or personal details. All accepted artists must confirm at this time whether they will participate in both the online and in-person gallery exhibits or only in the online exhibit.
Accepted artists may check our website (via the drop-down menu under the Call for Art) for information and next steps. This page will be added to the website menu by April 24.
