ARTIST STATEMENT

My inspiration for this piece is a small section of bamboo we walk by every morning on our morning walks on the arroyo. I have a bit of history with this small patch of bamboo. Depending on the time of the year the sun rises behind it coming over the mountain.

For years I have reveled in its simple beauty. I photograph it every day. Some years ago, someone came along with their chopping implements, and it was gone. In my mind I have nurtured its return hoping the growth would be allowed to continue uninterrupted. It seems magical to me.

Being an avid photographer during our morning walks, I enjoy the opportunities my photos present for wax work. Working to paint them so I can convey what they mean to me.
