ARTIST STATEMENT
A recent trip to the Greek Islands became a powerful source of inspiration for a series of abstract landscapes. The intensity of color and light created an immediate emotional response—one that compelled me to translate that experience into oil paint and encaustic wax.
While the Grecian landscape itself is undeniably beautiful, it was the uniquely vibrant palette that most deeply moved me: saturated blues shifting from cobalt to cerulean, azure, and turquoise, continually transformed by the changing light over sea and sky.
My greatest inspiration, however, came from the distinctive palette of the Grecian sunset—fiery reds and oranges set against deep grays and blacks. In these paintings, I use angular compositions and layered, contrasting color to capture both the movement of the cloud formations and the energy of the light itself.
Titled Hesperides I, the work references the mythological nymphs of evening and golden light, linking an ancient narrative to a contemporary expression of memory, atmosphere, and the transformative power of inspiration.
