ARTIST STATEMENT

One cannot live in NM and not be inspired by the beauty and wonder of nature that surrounds us. It is immediate and transformative. My works begin with this external source of inspiration the color, light, and quiet intensity of the natural world, but gradually move inward toward a more contemplative and meditative space.

Painting flowers inspires my creativity and stimulates my imagination by fostering a mindful connection to nature’s splendid beauty. Through close observation, I isolate and enlarge their forms, drawing attention to intricate structures, delicate detail and subtle variations. As these forms are simplified and centered, they begin to echo patterns of sacred geometry, natural symmetries that suggest an underlying order and connectiveness. The compositions move beyond representation, becoming immersive fields of color, rhythm and balance to capture and celebrate nature’s magnificence.   

For me, inspiration is not only found in nature, but in the experience of deep looking. It is a subtle awakening, an internal shift that transforms observation into reflection and reflection into a sense of connection, balance and calm evoking a feeling of joy and tranquility.
