ARTIST STATEMENT

In my younger years, I loved snow. As an adult, I see it as an obstacle to daily life: closing schools, icing walks and streets, and canceling plans. Being snowed in for more than a week this winter challenged and inspired me to look beyond the inconvenience to recall what I once loved about snow and the way it cloaks the world in soft, pale beauty and silences the cacophony of everyday life. Autumn Snow responds to my renewed appreciation for the snow and the quiet wonder it casts over the land. Walking in the snow-packed woods and through frosty fields to catch a glimpse of a winter sunset became a study in nature’s nuances of color—reflections of its play in the snow.
