Artist Statement:
The problem of global warming stands as a metaphor for our broken relationship with nature. The sun and the core of our planet are unbelievably hot but humans and their necessary environment have existed for millenia in an exquisitely thin layer that can regulate itself. Both heat and cold are necessary for our planet but it is the most fragile and delicate and beautiful balance between them that we require to thrive as a healthy ecosystem. I have tried in this cold wax and oil painting to represent that sublime and fragile balance by using the complimentary pair, blue and orange as well as contrasting texture and calm. The balance between turmoil and tranquility is that dynamic space we all wish to inhabit.
