Artist Statement:

Living in the mountains in a small town surrounded by forests I have noticed the changing climate over the years. Not only is it getting hotter but dryer making it more prone to forest fires. We have had many wildfires in the past, but the threat is greater as each year passes. Now fires are more intense, covering a larger area, with fire seasons starting earlier in the spring and later into autumn, and warmer nighttime temperatures causing fire activity to persist overnight. Now we have 3 large forest fires in the surrounding area covering over 150,000 acres. We need rain desperately.

All of this was on my mind as I created River of Fire.
