Douglas Mehrens’ workshops will be held at the Museum of Encaustic Art in Cerrillos, New Mexico. All other workshops, instructed by EAI members, are held at the individual instructor’s location.     Douglas Mehrens, founder of the Encaustic Art Institute, Museum of Encaustic Art, the online Encaustic Arts Magazine – has been working with encaustic/wax going on 40 years. This knowledge and experience give Douglas excellent insight and sensitivity to work with artists of all experience levels. Douglas is encouraging and supportive of those who are brand new to using encaustic/wax, as well as collaborating with and providing new insights to artists with more extensive experience and skills working with encaustic/wax media.

    In the last 10 years of his art career, he has also been working with resin, inventing ways of combining it with 2-D and 3-D encaustic/wax. Loving the sturdy, and unique quality of resin with wax – Douglas has been teaching resin techniques for over 8 years, sharing his vast knowledge and playfulness with this unique combination of materials.
