ALL ENTRANTS:
Notification emails with the status of your piece(s) have been sent to all entrants from EntryThingy on August 16. The emails were sent to the email address you provided in your EntryThingy artist profile, and note the title of either the accepted or not-accepted piece. Accepted artists who have entered more than one piece will receive a notification that one piece has been accepted and a second notification that the other piece was not accepted. If neither piece has been accepted, only one notification will be sent.
ALL ACCEPTED ARTISTS:
The first deadline you must meet is AUGUST 23:
1. Respond to Mehrens@eainm.com no later than August 23 with confirmation of how you will participate in the exhibition (online only, OR ship work for the Museum exhibit plus online showing).
2. Respond to eainm.info@gmail.com no later than August 23 with any edits to your accepted entry (title, price, name, artist statement, etc.) that you wish to make. You will need to log back into EntryThingy to view your profile and accepted entry. There, you can see and confirm your personal information and all the details of your entry and statement. Be sure that the email address in your profile is one you currently use and check. We will use the email provided in your profile to contact you with any questions or concerns and to notify you if your work has sold. If any information is missing or incorrect, contact eainm.info@gmail.com. Also, verify that your name, as you wish it to appear, matches the one listed above. This will be the only window of opportunity to edit the details of your accepted piece and artist statement. Note: If you provided a very brief statement in EntryThingy, but wrote a more detailed statement in the image description, or sent one to us separately, the juror and we used the more detailed statement you provided.
- Refer to the Call for Art for additional important dates/deadlines and information.
- Artists participating online only, after confirming that all the information we have from your entry is correct and confirming that you will participate online only, do not need to do anything else. We have the image, details, and artist statement we will use for the online exhibit. If anything is missing from your entry or you have any corrections, let us know by August 23 as noted above.
- Artwork being shipped or hand-delivered to us for the Museum exhibition should be delivered to: ENCAUSTIC ART INSTITUTE, 18 COUNTY RD 55A, CERRILLOS, NM 87010. Please be sure to email Adrienne (Mehrens@eainm.com) with your shipper’s name, tracking number, and the scheduled delivery date. Important: We keep the gate closed to our property Monday through Thursday unless we know a shipment is coming. If you don’t let us know the delivery date, your work may sit out by the gate in the sun.
- Reminder: All artists sending work to us should affix this label to the back or bottom of their work. And remember to include a prepaid return shipping label in your shipping box, or provide your shipping account number (USPS, UPS, or FedEx) to Mehrens@eainm.com.
- If you would like us to send a personalized image for you to post on your social media (Facebook or Instagram) or to send to your email list, please request it from Kari at eainm.info@gmail.com. JUROR JANE CORNISH SMITH’s COMMENTS ON JURY PROCESS
When the Encaustic Art Institute initially invited me to jury the 2026 Global Warming is REAL exhibition with the theme of resiliency, I wondered whether artists would feel the mission to find positivity within the devastating effects of global warming too difficult a task. Climate change has far-reaching repercussions—unprecedented temperature change, increased sea levels, extreme weather, and more—that pose a definite threat. Yet throughout the evaluation process, I saw an impressive, hope-filled diversity of imagery, technique, and conceptual considerations in both art and artist statements alike.
With wax media as a key component, the beautiful versatility of the medium comes through in the artists’ work, whether used alone or not. Artists were innovative in their incorporation of other materials such as glass, fiber, pearl beads, dried flora, metal leaf, and even an oil drum lid. Techniques included cyanotype, photography, painting, monotype, and burns. Imagery spanned from abstraction to the objective. Artists conveyed urgency and positivity through color and mark. They depicted real climate change-induced catastrophes such as the 2025 Texas Hill Country inland flood, Hurricane Helene, and the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles. They went on to portray and mention climate adaptation solutions such as water-capturing acequias, windbreaks, and nature’s bog ecosystems. Their statements mentioned environmental stewardship, such as the United Nations High Seas Treaty and the U.S. Forest Service Burned Area Emergency Response program. A challenging artist call; an inspiring response!
What I looked for in artists’ submissions was aesthetics, creativity, and a strong connection to the theme of global warming and resiliency. As noted in a submission, “resilience begins as awareness,” and it is through the artists’ expression that an important awareness was realized.
I am honored to jury the EAI 10th annual Global Warming is REAL exhibition. I encourage all the artists who entered pieces to keep creating and submitting. You have been seen. You have helped champion a resilient state—where, through the strength of nature and human endeavor, a verdant, healthy world can be a reality.
