The entrants were allowed to submit 1 or 2 pieces for consideration, and it’s important to note that you should not select more than one piece from any artist. Beyond this, your choices are entirely guided by your artistic discretion. When you review an entry, you may see 1-2 main image(s), which should be full-view images of the 1-2 pieces they are submitting for consideration. If you click on the image it will open in a larger window for you to see more detail. If an entrant has submitted more than one artwork, you may only choose ONE from that artist. Use the entry number (shown just below each image) to guide you that you’re looking at the next entry. You can do the scoring however it works best for you. Still, we would suggest that if you are selecting/accepting one piece from an artist/entry, you give that image a score of 5. At the same time, score the other image for that artist/entrant (if they’ve submitted more than one piece) as zero so you will be sure not to choose more than one piece per selected artist.
You will assign a score to each of the artist’s submitted main/full-view images. A numerical score of 5 will indicate which pieces you wish to accept into the exhibit. A score of 4 or less will indicate that the piece is not accepted.
Artists were required to include a statement on how their work relates to the theme. You may use the statements as a factor for your choices, giving the statements as much weight as you choose as a factor for acceptance into the exhibit. Ultimately, though, you’re free to choose work based on your aesthetic criteria and what you think will make for an excellent, cohesive showing. Some artists wrote statements longer than what was accepted in EntryThingy, they were instructed to write “statement sent separately” in that case. To view the statements that are included in EntryThingy, click “view this entry” and you’ll see their statement there.
I will email you copies of the statements that were sent separately because they would not fit in the allotted space. There were 23 entrants who sent separate statements. When you look at the entries, you should either see their statement included with their entry in EntryThingy – or the note they’ve sent it separately. The statements sent separately have their entry number on the document, and also have thumbnail image(s) to help you match the separate statements with their entries.
There were 60 entrants. Adrienne suggests you choose 40 (plus or minus 5) accepted pieces that would show well in the space. However, you have some flexibility in the total number, depending on the strength of the entries and your artistic discretion. This flexibility allows you to adapt to the unique circumstances of this exhibit. You can discuss this further with Adrienne if you wish.
Please complete the jury process anytime between April 4th and 18th so we can prepare the juried entries for notifications by the April 22nd deadline to notify entrants of your choices. When you’ve finished, please log out and contact Adrienne at Mehrens@eainm.com and cc eainm.info@gmail.com to let us know.
Thank you!
